What He Did

Jim's unique contributions to world history include serving as chief editor of the Modern English Version Bible translation, serving as the first full time chaplain for the Leader's Training Course under the United States Army Cadet Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 2006, and writing one of only several official United States Armed Forces prayers ever written. Colonel Robert Frusha, Commandant of the Leader's Training Course, commissioned Chaplain Linzey to write the official institutional prayer for the Leader's Training Course for the United States Army Cadet Command.

The Leaders’ Training Course Prayer

Almighty and most merciful Father, in whom is the fullness of light and liberty, instill within the hearts of our ROTC Cadets the passion to lead your people to victory. Inspire them to seek deeper levels of understanding. Enlighten their minds by your Spirit, and be gracious unto them. Grant them the wisdom to know your ways and sound judgment to determine what is best for the Soldiers they will lead. Gracious Father, place within them the sense of duty to you and to America. In all their endeavors, renew their minds, spirits and strength, keeping them safe from all danger, while they give you thanks for their success at the Leader’s Training Course. Amen.

Department of the Army

The purpose of this memorandum is to ensure that all who rate and senior rate Chaplain Jim Linzey understand and appreciate the outstanding efforts that Jim accomplished to motivate, retain, train, and mentor the future leaders of our Army while performing the role of the Leader's Training Course Chaplain. Jim's performance, simply stated, was outstanding. As the first designated chaplain for LTC, Jim established a mark on the wall that few will be able to accomplish in the future.... Jim also maxed his Army Physical Fitness Test every single time he took it with the Cadets this summer. Chaplain Linzey set the standard by which all LTC Chaplains should be measured in all aspects, mentally, spiritually, and physically. His efforts have dramatically increased the probability of LTC Cadets choosing to contract into ROTC and joining our Army team.
